  1. Pandas are endangered species on the verge of extinction that perhaps would have gone extinct by now, if it wasn’t for human care. There are about 2000 of them living in the wild today.
  2. Pandas or panda bears, are bears. All of them. They are very weird and distinct bears, but bears, nonetheless.
  3. Pandas are also the only bears that are omnivores whose 99% of diet consists of bamboo. And they also eat about 25 to 38 kilograms or 26 to 83 pounds of bamboo a day.
  4. Pandas, on average, spend 55% of their day searching for, preparing and eating bamboo.
  5. These animals can poop up to 40 times and produce about 28 kilograms or 61 pounds of it, on a daily basis.
  6. Pandas have an average life-span of 15 to 20 years in the wild and 25 to 35 years in captivity.
  7. Out of their natural habitat more than 60% of male pandas exhibit no sexual desire whatsoever.
  8. On top of that, female pandas are only fertile up to 3 days a year.
  9. Pandas have lived on Earth for about 2 to 3 millions of years.
  10. A single giant panda needs about 2.5 to 4 square miles or 6.5 to 10.36 square kilometers of space to live in the wild.
  11. Pandas also shouldn’t be looked upon as gentle little creatures, because they have one of the most powerful bite forces when compared to most carnivores.
  12. On average, adult pandas weigh about 75 to 160 kilograms or 165 to 353 pounds. They are also 120 to 152 cm or 4 to 5 feet tall.
  13. Pandas walk with their front paws turned inward.
  14. All pandas in the world are either living in China or are loaned from China. China has essentially created a business loaning them. And then a baby panda is born abroad of China, it is shipped to china by FedEx, to help expand their gene pool.
  15. To encourage pandas to reproduce, Chinese scientists tried putting males and females together and showing them “panda porn” – explicit videos or pandas mating.
Pandas are vegans! They almost exclusively eat bamboo.
